This rear spoiler is a copy of the genuine Nissan Factory spoiler in glass fibre, these are the only official CAMS/FIA approved fitment on 240Z and 260Z cars in all local, national, and international competition motor sport events.
The rear bottom edge was extended to cover the rear edge of the hatch lid to hide the joint, and appears to be an integral part of the car body, making a much stronger, better finished, better looking, and a sealed water tight unit. This is the front spoiler that was developed by the Pete Brock/John Morton, Datsun 240Z racing team in the US, and backed by Nissan, Japan, He cleverly called it a spook, rather than a spoiler, and was able to use it in the production class racing, where they dominated. It has extended air duct's which direct air to the front brakes. It has been my experience that at 160 KPH the front of car was pulled down about 30 to 40 mm, or took the high beam almost to the dipped position on the road at night. I didn't run a rear spoiler at the time, so there may have been some back lift at the same time. I remember it was a real problem when driving at night in excess of 100 MPH
This front spoiler is also a copy of an alternative spoiler used in the US production sports car racing. It was the most commonly fitted spoiler fitted to show room cars in Australia due to its lower cost compared with the genuine Nissan factory spoiler.
